Hugo Boss started his clothing company in 1924, Metzingen, Germany, where he was the official supplier of military and police uniforms. Due to the slump in economic climate at the time, the company went bust, and had to file for bankruptcy in 1930. In the years that followed the brand turned their attentions to the male fashion industry and began designing suits and accessories to great success and critical acclaim. Since then, the brand has expanded greatly and currently has at least 6,100 points of sale in 110 countries, with Hugo Boss AG owning around 330 retail stores with over 1,000 stores and shops owned by franchises. The brand have created six more lines offering business clothing, everyday wear, shoes, bags, watches, and fragrances, as well as a children's wear line called Boss Kidswear, Hugo Boss baby, and a cell phone accessory line in 2008.
